The country's second largest maker and the largest passenger car exporter, South Korea based, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) reported a rise in sales of Hyundai cars in India in May 2012. During the month the company reported a growth of 16.6 per cent at 55,670 units sold in May this year as compared to total sales of 47,762 units in same month of previous year.
Hyundai Eon, Santro Xing, i10, i20 hatchback pushed the sales of company in last and emerged as the best selling models. Domestic sales of the company stood 32,010 units and reported a growth of 2.8 per cent against the total sales of 31,123 units in the month of Many 2011. Exports of the company reported a growth of 42.2 per cent at 23,660 units sold in May 2012 as compared to 16,639 units same month of last year.
The segment wise total sales of Hyundai cars in India in May are: 2 segment (including Eon, Santro, i10, i20) 48,250 units, A3 segment 7,306 units ( including Hyundai Accent and Verna), the company 43 units of Sonata and 71 units of Santa Fe SUV which come into the A5 segment. Currently, Hyundai Eon is reporting overwhelming response and emerging as the best selling small car in the country.
